It's been used give or take a few 4-5x/year for 7 years. After this last time, the inside looks resembling it's peeling. I'm guessing this is some sort of paint/coating as anti build up. Should it be peeled rotten or not? If so, what, if anything, should it be coated with?
Answers: I doubt that it is paint. Most plausible it is residue from the smoking proces. Wipe it out and try to determine if it paint. If it is peeling paint, by adjectives means remove it.
Yes it should be peel off you don't want it getting on your food. You can verbs it up and paint it with a soaring temperature paint (available at most correct home stores). This will keep it from rusting and getting that on your food.
