Does This Help In Reducing Heating Costs If Only A Little Bit? I know of a person who told me that a hearth rug...
I know of a person who told me that a hearth rug fitter advised them beforehand he put their new runner down to put a layer of baking foil down on the floor up to that time laying the unmarked carpet.
I can see the adjectives sense in this but does it work? Or would it not get much if any difference?
Thanks
Answers: What's under the floor? Are you on a cement slab or do you enjoy a basement?
We hold radiator heat and you are supposed to hold ~reflective~ sheets BEHIND the radiator so that the heat doesn't move about out through the wall.
But you have to remember that aluminum is a heat-sink (just similar to granite) - it transfers heat and cold in good health. You wouldn't put this on your walls - one of the reasons to gain rid of that old aluminum siding if your house isn't insulated okay. So do you really want something like this below your floor?
I'd see more value if you told me that he put some sympathetic of thin plastic (insulation) on the floor beneath the carpet.
I own never heard of that! I will hold to look into it. There are a lot of other ways to also dull costs, such as shutting all the doors within your house ie: closet doors (why would you need to heat/cool a closet?) covering plug opening, putting plastic over windows, keeping your house like peas in a pod temperature year round (68, or 72...) fairly than turning the heating/cooling on/off when you leave. It is more expensive to consent to the house get so hot while you're gone next have to completely recool when you carry home and vice versa.
Generally you can get heating/cooling tips from your electric company's home page!!
I hope this help you!
