Does it nouns as if my home builder ripped me stale? We had a home built up to date in 2004....
We had a home built up to date in 2004. We moved surrounded by August of that year. This week our central A/C element stopped working correctly, so we called our repair company. The guy that come out said their was a huge filter in the system, and he showed me a hole on the outside component coils. He said he could not repair the unit, and that we would own to purchase a new one. He also stated this section was manufactured surrounded by 1996. That would mean our builder any used an old element, or old stock. I am a touch confused since four years seems resembling a very short natural life for even a cheap quality element. Should I trust the repair company's word, and look into purchasing a new one? Or should I try to find a method to have this part fixed. He quoted me at $3500 for installing a new element.
By the way it is a Goodman element with a stove, not a heat pump. We live within Arizona, so going into summer without nouns conditioning is not really an option here, especially since we enjoy three dogs.
Answers: It seems unreasonable to own an eight year old part installed in a latest house. Call the builder first, If you get the big brush past its sell-by date I would check with the local building inspector, the Better Business Bureau, and if you used a REALTOR, I would check near them as well. See if the repair company will pass you something in writing stating that the part was manufactured contained by 1996.
The warranty is supposed to start when the unit be first installed. not always at the time of purchase. Ask the sale person or the manufactuer, why the element was 7 years frail when he sold it to you.. If you trust the repair mans word and his work skilfulness,stick your guns and call Goodman and be adjectives and see that they give you a untried unit or near service people repair it sufficiently to your satifaction.
