Our roof over our bathroom needs to be replaced. Its a flat roof that right very soon, has roll-out shingle on it. It requests to be replaced, as the rain is leak into our bathroom ceiling. its gotten progressively worse and it really does need to be fixed earlier the whole ceiling cave in; we purely don't have several thousands of dollars to spend. Just wondering if that's something that our homeowner's policy would cover? We are clean to homeownership.
Just wondered.
Thanks!
Answers: If your roof is leaking because of a big wind storm, that undermined the roof, or ice the cause the singles to separate from the roof, etc. You probably would be covered. However, if this is a maintenance issue, such as old-fashioned roof, there would be no coverage. In your insurance policy you should see a clause, that say, you as a homeowner have a responsibility to address any problem within a short time frame to mute the damage that the insurance company would own to pay if this is a covered claim. This medium if your roof was blown bad by a tornado, you should be right away trying to get someone to put a tarp over the house to mute the chances of more pull occurring from water, etc. Please contact your insurance agent, however, if this is a result of a feeble roof, you probably will be denied coverage. Good Luck!
Call your agent and they will send an inspector at no charge to you and you will definately hold your answer. Flat roofs are prone to leaking.
