Answers: Are you sure you really want to store your box spring in a shed? While mice are a concern, I would also be worried roughly dampness and possible rust to any metal parts. I chew over if your box spring was stored for more than a jiffy in a shed it would conspicuously pick up some odors. The only suggestion that I would grant would be to wrap it very ably in plastic shrink wrap.
***Note: We have mice in a garage years ago and they get into our Saab and ruined the air conditioner. We be lucky that our insurance covered it.
