i have a rainsoft system, and it started making a funky echo, i called the guy (to fix it) told me to turn the tap to bypass the system, but its still on and has red lights, it will be super expensive to own the guy come out, so does anyone have any view on how to fix it?

Water softeners add chemicals (essentially salt) to your hose to protect your pipes and make bathing more pleasant. Somehow this is not taking place. That's what the lights are telling you.
