Answers:    I have a Generac 5500XL portable generator for backup power supply. During an outage it have to be wheeled outside and connected to the verbs panel. I've been really pleased with its operation and reliability.
If your plan is to hold an automatic start and transfer system you should shop around a bit more, compare prices, features, and reliability. Fuel source is a foremost consideration.

If you're looking for something inexpensive, dance for it but be prepared to face problems beside it. Kohler home standbys are more expensive, but definitely worth it if you're serious roughly speaking getting a decent generator.
