An engineer from British Gas come round to fix my oven yesterday, only he didn't hold the correct part, but when he have gone I could smell gas so called out the National Grid emergency culture, turns out the gas man hadn't connected my cooker properly and gas was flooding out, it be very unsafe and could have cause an explosion.

Ring the bid centre explain whats happen, They will prob say they will unseal a complaint, but what should happen is the complaint should be passed to the engineers service organizer ( who is the eng boss) The service manager will prob give the name you and arrange a visit and should really proposition you a refund. The eng should of cap the gas off the cooker while he be getting the part. DO NOT LET THEM FOB YOU OFF!!

Yes. He was careless and incompetent. He should not be allowed near a gas supply again until properly trained. Do it but put into writing and distribute it to the customer services dept with a copy the the Chief Executive of British Gas. They are duty bound to offer you his office address if you ring them.
