Difference between a 72 knob and a KW2 Key? ive gotten 2 keys made one at wal-mart and one at...
ive gotten 2 keys made one at wal-mart and one at home depot and for my KW2 Key they duplicated it next to 72 Keys. Neither key works, can any body notify me if its suppose to work or not? If not then whats the cause behind it.
Answers: As long as the investigational keys teeth (seen from the side) and shaft (seen from the end) are one and the same are the same shape it should work.
There are a couple reason I can think of for a switch not working.
Sometimes a cut push button will not work properly because it is too new. Throught the lifespan of a push button it and its lock wear in similar pattern. The tool used to cut the key sometimes misses this. This can be solved next to a file and close insepection of an infirm key. Or enjoy wally mart do it till it works.
Also when a key is cut sometimes they will cut the teeth to far down or up the shaft making them not column up with the tumblers within the lock. If this is true both companies should make you a latest one free of charge.
As far as KW2 and 72, it is probably how the company who makes the blanks refer to them a sort of tomato/tomahto manner of thing.
