Craftsman Portable Power Drill...are these lately disposable??? So my 5 year old Craftsman 14.4v drill is starting to not...
So my 5 year old Craftsman 14.4v drill is starting to not hold power. I put the battery in the charger and after a few minutes the red lantern is out. Leaving them all hours of darkness produces only a short time charge, just adequate to tease. So I don't know if it's the battery or charger.
So I go to Sears and find battery are $39.99 and a charger is also $39. That's over $120 to replace what I have within batteries and the charger
There is a 14.4v drill on mart with charger, two battery and a case for $49. Duh!
Should I simply expect to buy a new one every few years?
if the charger is bad sear would replace it free, but it sounds like it's the battery, but for 10 more bucks you get a unusual drill also.think i would only buy a new one.
I had like problem with my drill. Not sure why it works that method but it is cheaper to simply buy a new one.
Sure seem wasteful to me. My antiquated drill was fine, I merely couldn't find batteries for it.
You could probably product a business out of selling old battery. It seems the manufacturer change the voltage or style every year or two of late to make you buy a alien one.
Answers: I have exactly the same problem and found that it be just the battery-operated i upgraded to a nickel- cadmium battery and it last me many more years after that, when i come to purchase a new drill i contracted to go for dewalt, I've still get it now and its battery-operated has showed no sign of power loss so if you intend to buy a strange drill all i can influence is buy DeWalt, they are brilliant but a little pricey, you're problem seem to be the battery though. And yes today is a throw approach society.
