COST TO: Upgrade home electrical to 200amps (from 100amps)?
I'm buying a house soon and 90% of the ones I'm looking at are 100amps. We're going to have flat peak TV, treadmill, dehumidifier, 2 AC units (probably), etc. The houses we're looking at are tiny - around 1400sq/ft. Houses continuum from 30-70 years old.
Anyone know what gamut I can expect to pay for an upgrade?
Answers: With the housing open market the way it is today, I'd see if the seller would pay for the upgrade & bring the electrical system up to code, etc. as subdivision of the sale. Be sure there's GFCI's contained by the bathroom & kitchen also and that the electrical system is properly grounded. A lot of the older homes aren't. You're probably looking at around a noble or so - get estimates from local electricians to be sure. Good luck!
economically if you don't have to upgrade anything but the panel and the meter basis i would say you will enjoy about $1000 within it.
