Copper Bottomed Revere Cookware: Stainless Steel or Aluminum? I have an elderly set of copper bottomed Revere cookware frying pans...
I have an elderly set of copper bottomed Revere cookware frying pans and kettles. They are adjectives labelled near something like this on the bottom: 1801 REVERE WARE 12 contained by.-85 CLINTON, ILL. U.S.A.
Is there a possibility that these may be aluminum and not stainless steel.
Answers: Revere Ware be never made of Aluminum ever. They have simply been made of Copper Clad Stainless Steel since their inception and outset of production in1952.
NOTE* See if a magnet sticks (it will) indicating steel........
They are stainless. Aluminum will be very dull inside and can be scratched efficiently. Use the tip of a knife or other pointed steel purpose. Scrape inside the pot. Aluminum will actually come sour as a sliver of metal, steel will barely mark.
