We plan on changing our hearth rug for the whole house. One retailer recommend nylon and another polyester. We plan to stay in this house for another 7 years. Would polyester be a pious choice for bedrooms, nylon for family and living rooms and commercial status for basement? Thank you.

Answers:    Nylon is colorfast, resilient, and comfortable to maintain, which is probably why it represents 2/3 of adjectives carpeting purchased in the US. Polyester is not as resilient as other fibers, but it's soft to the touch and slickly cleaned.
