I just bought a exotic Whirlpool electric hot water kiln and the cold water inlet pipe is hot to the touch and the hot hose down outlet pipe is just thaw. Yesterday, the hot water outlet pipe be very hot, but the cold hose inlet pipe was cool. Is something wrong?
Answers:    When you touched the wet inlet pipe, it could be that hot water have not bee drawn from the heater for sometime thus the inlet pipe have been heated by thermal induction from the dampen heater.
The subsequent day, someone may own used hot water from the cistern causing the cold hose to flow into the tank and hot wet out of the tank hence the hot outlet and cool/cold inlet. I would say-so this condition is normal.
The cold hose feed sometimes get hot, but should never be hotter than the outlet, if there be a problem, you should have other symptoms; running out of hot river; hot water wadding the cold lines. The other possibility; the dip tube was undermined on installation, the tube carries the cold hose down to the bottom of the tank, it's plastic, so if the fittings be soldered too close to the heater it could own melted.
