I accidentally left CLR on our granite countertop for too long and now at hand is a cloudy stain on it that won't go away. Any suggestions of how to get rid of it? My parents will destroy me. Please help.
Answers: Chances are you counter is not sealed, Granite is significantly polished from sanding. If it was hermetically sealed, the stain would wipe off, instead it has soak into the stone and moved out a cloudy residue. The product you need will not be found in your local hardware store. This is a grout film remover, [this is for people who did not thoroughly wipe off the grout when they are installing clay tile and the grout leaves a cloudy residue. The other product is called a poultice, it is a fine powder and when you grind it on the stain it will lift up the stain.
Whatever you do, oral exam the product on a small area before you dump it on the cloudy residue and expect it to work
If near is a sealer on the granite, you will have to have the sealer stripped and re-applied. If within is no sealer, you can try some white vinegar and see if it reduces the stain, otherwise you should try to find a ProSoCo dealer within your area (go to www.prosoco.com ) and ask for 800 Stain Remover. Follow the instructions very with care. Good luck! you may likely have to re polish this nouns. the CLR chemically etched the granite.
