My hot water tank burst within the basement, and the water is up to around the ankles. How do I remove the wet ASAP to prevent damage to the (new) flooring?
I have already turned stale the water, so the flow has stopped. =)

(Typing from the computer on the biggest floor, while panicking.)
pilfer a water vac or small sump pump vacumm all waterup consequently wash floors with a disfectiant uncap all windows and consent to air ciculate use a good hanger-on to cicurlate air this should do fine. Like everyone else said sump pump, wet vac or appendage bail it. The bigger the fan the quicker it will dry. you can use bleach water 1/2 wet 1/2 bleach to disinfect. Good Luck!
You dont have a sump pit within your Basement? Shame on you. Now you know why you need one!!
But get a couple of big shop vac's and start the sucking,,,, obtain it as dry as you can with them, take out any waterlogged items and salvage what you can..
When you enjoy compleated all that open any window in basement nouns you can and get 2 or 3 fans and turn those babys on and agree to them run for a few days to totaly dry it out.. Hope you didn't have finished walls?!?! if so you may have to drill 1/2 inch holes adjectives the way around the base of the underground room (between the studs) to let them dry out as well!!
Answers:    Either manual bailing - scooping sea into a reasonably carried bucket and then dumping it outdoors, or a damp vac, which can be unreasonably heavy to carry and neglected. The smaller wet vacs become the preferred item just because of that, and the expense.

Once sopped up, fan to speed drying, and opening every available door and window within the basement to circulate air will comfort. Spraying a fungicide to reduce mold and mildew won't hurt.
Tool rental places have pumps made just for this, including the mandatory hoses. Lifting that much water manually'll kill ya!
