I just purchased a untried shag rug and noticed some shedding, little pieces here and in attendance. Is that normal? And can you vacuum this rug? I'm afraid that the vacuum might verbs some the hairs out.
Answers:    Some shedding is regular. You can vacuum this rug, but only if you can adjust the stage of the beater bar. If you vacuum the rug beside the beater bar within close contact with the fiber, it will "bloom".

If you identify excessive shedding or bald spots, return the rug to the store directly. It doesn't happen normally, but the rug might have a defective weave.

Good luck!
