Answers:    You would be wise to want your own contractors and get your own bids. Way too oodles insurance adjusters are in bed next to shady contractors. This I know "for a fact" 20+ yrs. as a general contractor.
Do not adopt any offer from your insurance company or sign anything. You are entitled to gain the work done professionally by a reputable contractor of your choice. Let the adjuster argue with the contractor. Most contractors know how to haggle next to those clowns. And they will be looking out for your best interests and yes they may charge for the estimate. It is only fair-minded as they have to do like mad of work and argue with the clowns as all right.
