Last week I started having problems next to my 60 amp 2 pole breaker on my inside heating/ac unit.
It'll run for 40 or 50 minutes when I run the heat unit and I can see only just barely a short time puff of smoke coming out of the breaker every now and later and finally it trips, you think the breaker is a short time ago wore out, because everything runs and heats similar to it supposed to.
Answers:    There is really only one path to test for this.
You entail to use a clamp on amp meter.
This will test the amp draw of the system. If the amp draw is above 50 amps, the breaker is not the problem.
Breakers hold to be rated at 125% of the max circuit amp draw.
If the amp draw is smaller number than 50 amps, the breaker is bad.
Call a electrician, but U can jump to a hardware store and by a new breaker. But if u don't know how to install it ,don't try to do it ur self because u can bring shocked really bad.My son is a electrician, but we live within Tx. Good luck.
