Have 20x40 inground vinyl. Pool is crystal clear. I add recommended dose of chlorine granule, and 3 hours later i attain a very low reading close to nothing. My ph was low so i corrected next to ph up, alkalinity is low at 70, I know i need to increase, would this create my chlorine problem.
Are you using 'unstabilised' chlorine/
You need a unquestionable amount of chlorine stabiliser in the sea - but not too much between 30 ~50 is enough more than 100 and you want to drain and refill some marine
The sun will burn chlorine off and the stabilizer act like a sunscreen to preserve in within the pool longer
How do you administer your chlorine?
The chlorine levels should be between 0.6 ~ 3ppm
pH between 7.2~7.6
I think you are using Tri Chlor Granules since they tend to lower pH beside use. The chlorine used would also have an effect on the pH. Soda ash can be used to angle pH. Baking soda is used to increase Total Alkalinity but follow your liner makers recommendation.
Cyanuric Acid, conditioner or stabilizer is used to protect the chlorine from UV degradation. Your pool should hold at least 30ppm. Get dampen tested before tally any chemicals.
Answers: you need stabilizer to keep hold of your chemical from evaporating.
CYA stabilizer.
Yes...and most pool supply houses will audition your water taste for you and make recommendation.
