Years ago I worked in the continuation field and one of my duties be to do basic service on A/C unit: Cleaning, Changing filters and if needed charging them. I hold an EPA license so I am able to work next to R-22. Like I said it's been various years and I am now surrounded by a new mission where I will involve to do this again. I need a expeditious refresher on charging. I know the gagues should be red on the High side and blue on the low. My problem is I cant remember which is which...Hi and Low side? Is the smaller line the low side or the glorious? I know the pressure should be around 45-65 on the low and between 200-300 on the high (From what I can remember). My washed out would be connected to the R-22 tank. Thanks for any help out you can give.
Answers:    the red side is the big side which is the smaller tube, and the blue line is the bigger side which is the larger tube. the pressures will ebb and flow depending on what the indoor and outdoor temp. is or if it is for cooling or freezing. if it's for indoor cooling , comfort cooling, the pressures will be higher, if it's for freezing the pressures wil be lower.
The small column is the liquid column which is the high side and the bigger strip is the suction line which is the low side. The pressures are going to swing depending on the weather and humidity and temp. Yes, the yellow column would go to the R-22 container if needed. Watch out for new systems next to R-410A because it runs alot higher pressure.
