My house is currently heated by an old grease boiler. I am wondering whether I should upgrade to a combi boiler because I think it might be more verve efficient, also since my house wants to be reroofed I would like to try to get hold of rid of the chimney.

Am I right in thinking that a gas boiler will not want a chimney and an oil boiler will?

Is gas heat more efficient than grease?

Will gas ( mains ) be cheaper than grease?

I need some virtuous advice because I don't own a clue on these things.

Thanks
Answers:    A combi boiler will save you money contained by operating costs. Gas is typically cheaper than oil to operate. You will not requirement a chimney for either component if you get a giant efficiency component. You may also be able to bring a CHP system and produce electricity at the same time. weather your warmness is hot water or steam--a gas boiler is much more updated than an oil fired boiler. In any case you will still requirement the chimeny. Keep in mind also the grease boiler will require more maintenance too. Altho untaught gas is expensive--with all the turmoil and pricing of oil--the grease could wind up mortal way more expensive than the gas boiler to operate. It is already more expensive and will probably verbs to rise faster than the price of natural gas.
