My house is being constructed very soon. Roof is done. When I went into attic, I observed that ceiling have tons of nails (30-40%) piercing thru the roof. I did not view the same at my friends place constructed by another builder.

It is not risk-free for sure, but is this the common building method? Is it okay? Any likelihood of leaking contained by the future etc?

Answers:    The nails jump through a tar liner, you can see this between th tab and the top of the shingle. nearby is 3-6 nails surrounded by every shingle. Every roof will leak, but yours might nick 20 years.

that is from the guys installing the shingles .if you stir on the roof you wont see the nails because the shingles over nouns each other and the nail will be covered by the shingle above it.it should not leak.
