Canes and Walking sticks? Does anyone know what the use to hold the silver heads...

Does anyone know what the use to hold the silver heads onto wooden cane is? I have a nice walking rattan that has a silver cranium on it but the head have come off. It looked resembling the head be filled near some sort of a resin and stuck on top of the rattan but I want to know what they use to do this. anyone know? Bit random I know.
