I am concerned about wounding the roof, but was told by one of the contractors I get a bid from that it wouldn't damage the roof if simply done every once in a while.
The moss itself is causing devastate. The roots are short and keep the materials moisten shortening the life of the substance. Use an oxygen bleach on a cool roof. Scrub a bit and wash past its sell-by date after 20 mins. Repeat for bad growth. DO NOT USE CHLORINE BLEACH. It can impairment the materials. Put son copper strips high on the roof so every time it rain some copper molecules will wash down the roof. It will hamper new growth.

Use pressure wash as a last resort. You may hold to replace the materials after they wash them rotten your roof.
i dont like pressure washers no how. The pressure other does some damage. In the bag of asphalt shingles it either removes or at lowest possible loosens the protective sand granules.
So the best opening to clean the roof is near a mix of soap and bleach with a soft scrub brush (preferably on a nice long stick) agree to it set there and do its work and any a garden hose or the next precipitation to wash it past its sell-by date.
It also ruins wood by lifting the wood fibers (just a side note)
Answers:    wood singles or asphalt singles? doesn't mater I wouldn't try to power clear up either...guess your contractor never used one in the past.moss is like a sort of root so it sticks itself to the surface drastically well .you want a lot of pressure from the washer that it would wrong both types of shingles.he could remove some of it but not the root part ( it will of late grow back ) own the contractor pick up a roll of zinc from the hardware store ( the roll is enough to cover down the roof, both sides the roll is about 4inches within width) the zinc strip is placed about an inch below the ridge cap ( the exceedingly top of the roof ) and the whole length of the roof ( one strip on respectively side ) when it rains the hose will run off the zinc strip and taking some of the chemical near it and down the roof which will kill the mold.don't run the chance of disfavour unless contractor is going to repair it.doesn't take much to valet the color granules bad a shingle.bars of zinc are also placed on bottom of ships to hold the plant life rotten which can slow a ship down
No, asphalt shingles are flimsey and should not use a pressure washer. You want to kill the moss, not verbs the roofing.
