My husband accidently put a hole (thinking it was a wet pipe (to install a humidifier)-wrong pipe has be used. It is not the black pipe that should be used) Anyway, hubby thinks that layering copious pieces of tape will hold as a interim fix. I insist this scares the s**t out of me. What do you reckon? He is going in for surgery tomorrow and a bit stress out.
Of course I know this is not a good long residence fix. I am thinking for just a few days.

Answers:    Every one of the above answers is right. At the unbelievably least, I would clamp the pipe beside a rubber gasket and automotive radiator, screw to tighten type, hose clamp. That will be a temp fix until you can do a permanent repair surrounded by a few days. You are justified surrounded by being anxious s**tless...
