i just purcahsed environmental friendly (spiral) standard lamp bulbs, and theyre 100 watts but only equate to 23 watts. can i use thes lights surrounded by say a 60 or 75 watt lighting fixture?
Answers:    Of course you can and you'll recover on your electric bill at the same time. They also second longer.
I replace just in the order of all the ones contained by my place when I moved in. I prefer the lighting from a CFL than from the regular incandescent bulbs.
Remember though when you dispose of them there is mercury within them and they have to be recycled so the mercury doesn't take into the enviroment. Some areas demand this.
Yes the ratings apply to incandecent bulbs which burn hot. Floresence bulbs burn at a much cooler temp. They will also salvage you money on your electric bill
