can I use fabric softener on my heat source to eliminate static?

I am outstandingly annoyed with the constant crackling hubbub my heater let out every 5 seconds or so- I cannot decline asleep. Would spraying a softener on it before I sleep fashion it not produce these cackling sounds?

Answers:    Do you hold an electonic air cleaner if so try to verbs the cells.

i do not suggest doing that as most sprays are flammable
