my sewer backed up and flooded my vault I had a almost exotic roll of 12/2 romex and it was covered for a few hours next to water, is any of it salvageable?
thank you
Answers:    You can possibly use the lead, first you need to coat back something like 4 inches of sheathing, paper (if type "NM) and insulation. Look at the height of corrosion on the copper conductors. If the corrosion is minor and the wire will be used for no more than 60% of it's size (EX: #14awg = 15 amps, #12 awg = 20 amps) then you will probably enjoy no issues. Be sure to sure to strip both ends of the wire run. Also check to see if the tabloid is wet beyond the 4 inch point, if it is after it should be dried out prior to using.
I hope this helps

Maybe, it depends on the age of the chain, and how far under wet it was. Dry the cable completely, uncoil it and raise one finishing, let any sea run out of it. If the cable has a newspaper liner in it shaving the whole coil. Strip a few inches from the ending after it is dry and inspect the conductors for corrosion. If none is apparent after a few eeks, the cable might be usable. Wire that has be in a flood is a highest problem in the industry. After every home have been flooded, the cable will corrode and as the circuits are energized the probability of a fire increases.
