Answers:    Aux heat is the grounds of the continuous blower. aux heatis just a sort of boost. It comes on when the warmness pump needs aid. The blower motor will run as long as either is working to dissipate the warmth. 24dg. is rather cold and probably not helping.

Yes, if you turn the thermostat to emergency it will lock out the outdoor article of the heat pump. You can also enjoy a control installed on the outdoor unit to do it automatically. For more info, check out the warmness pump page at my source.
