I have a small (5' x 5') concrete stoop and the top blanket is crumbling. I have read contradicting articles on the internet around laying untried concrete on top of it. It with the sole purpose needs 2-4". If it is possible, what do I inevitability to know?
It can be done, but, you requirement to get rid of ALL of the crumbling bits and pieces. Rent a power concrete sander, makes the commission much easier. Then use the fiber-filled concrete, use at least a 6 sack mix, gross sure it is at least 3.5 inches gooey, and get the feeble concrete very damp before pouring. Expect it to crack. If you want it done right, break out the old-fashioned concrete, and start over, you will be happier with the duty.
I can't communicate you how many times I enjoy seen individuals try to cap concrete and see it fail.
The merely way you may enjoy a shot at a good repair, is to verbs all loose concrete away, and try to repour near a minimum of 2" of new concrete adjectives around the old stoop. If you can acquire the 2", you may be able to verbs it off.
Answers: Yes, I saw this on DIY network yesterday on Desperate Landscapes. Clean the concrete really in good health with abroom and after get the stoop dank. You can then put bright concrete over the existing and it will stick. This method is only interim and will last a couple years. Here is the website where on earth you can see it... Hope this helps!
