I have a 33 foot round - but the cover is just too hefty and the reel is a pain within the butt. Would a smaller one be effective?
Actually these solar pool covers wreck havoc on producing a clean pool. I talked next to several pool companies who explained to me that all they do is harbour germs and create algae inside the pool.
Best of luck Anything is better than zilch.

You could cut your existing cover into four smaller pieces. This way you can still cover the entire pool but with smaller more supportable pieces. You would probably have to get rid of the walk unsteadily though. well you can use small solar disks to put in your pool they are really small / feathery and they work just as good.

But they may be for a time expinsive depending on where you buy it they are about $20-$30 in recent times for one disk
Answers:    Rather then a cover for your pool, you can use a thoroughly cheap solar alternative - a Black Hose. I've been using this technique to prolong the seasonal use of my pool for several years. Basically you take a black colored hose (or several and string them together) and hook it up to your circulating pump. Then you can any run the hose out into the grass, which must be a real sunny area, or coil it up and lay it on the ground. Of course it lone works if the hose is in the sun.

I found an article about it at http://www.solar-dryer.com - but immediately I don't see it there. That site has some suitable articles and blog entries.
