the local planing office are coming to inspect so external work we are have done do they have the right to ask to inspect the interior of the property this is an ex council hostel and have had work done to it but zilch structural
Answers: If it's the conservatory the woman has complained in the order of, it's the conservatory they want to see. One of the planning criteria relates to the volume of the extension compared to the volume of your house, which can often be estimated by eye from outside. Only if it's borderline will they be concerned around precise measurements.
You'll know of course that if what you've done does breach planning criteria as applied by your local council you may be required to apply for concurrence retrospectively. If that is not forthcoming you may own to demolish it.
Having said that, I recently did something that did require authority and some clown did object. A bloke from the planning department come round, said he could already see at a glance that what I be planning was fine short even taking measurements and the objection got stamped on as anyone purely malicious. They aren't other obstructive . . .
If necessary, they can insist on coming within, supported if really essential by a court order, but I'd doubt if they'd enjoy any problem with the interior; frankly any studwork is of no issue in a common domestic situation.
they can see what ever they like as it must stick to the plans inside and out!! if it breaches any inner or outer plans they will sut you down as simple as that
