Brick foundation disintergrating! Major problem? I have a hundred+ year weak house with a brick foundation...

I have a hundred+ year weak house with a brick foundation next to a basement. Home inspector when we bought it two years ago said in attendance was no evidence of hose down and we have not see any either. In one small nouns of the basement wall, 3 ft square possibly, several bricks are crumbling or turning to dust. The mortar is not having a problem though. Is this a chief problem/repair? What is causing it? Can we a short time ago individually replace the affected bricks or do we necessitate to get a foundation guy out?
Answers:    You can shore up floor of home to hand wall that needs repaired, by using 4x4 post. place as plentiful as you need to keep hold of floor sturdy, steady and level, later knock out portion of bricks that need repair, inspect nouns to see if their is a problem or if it is just problem near bricks, if no problem, you can replace area beside new bricks and mortar.
