We just bought an 8 gallon output Kenmore humidifer from Sears. The second we turn the furnace on, the throat starts to hurt and we stir up feeling awful within the morning. I thought the humidifer would fix the problem, however the humidifier ALWAYS states that the humidity in the room/area is 55% or complex. I woke up this morning with my throat massacre (I'm not sick), however it was at 63%. Since it is so elevated, the thing NEVER comes on unless I force it to stay on. I've empty the water every dark b/c I didn't want mold to start forming. Does it sound similar to the unit is measure the humidity wrong? We live in Nashville and can't assume the 63% humidity in the house when the furnace is on. The sensor is 4" from the part, on the pwr cord. Should I buy another thing (whatever they are called) to check the humidity height, or should I just return it for another unit/model? I despise to buy things I don't really need so if it sounds conspicuously wrong, I will just return the part. Thank
I check out of my humidifier going all time. The winter air is so cold and so dry that it scarcely makes a dent when the furnace is running. I indubitably would worry too much something like winter mold in Nashville. I be to live there, it's the summer you hold to worry in the order of!

A humidifier is designed to evaporate or emit the marine in its reservoir into the air. If you deserted it overnight, you are defeating the purpose.

The humidifier (assuming freestanding) should be placed contained by your living area or bedrooms or move as desired. No involve to be next to the intake or output of the furnace - nouns circulation will take supervision of it.

Normally there is an adjustment for the desired humidity. If, after you set out water within it overnight, it fails to increase - I'd rob it back as defective.
Answers:    you may not have great nouns circulation in the room or simply near the element if it's up close to the wall, try moving it and setting a small fan up to blow the atmosphere around the room more away from the sensor.
