Bought home on septic, friend have suggested a sewer alarm. What is a sewer alarm? How much? Where can they be purchased ?

Answers: A float switch and in-tank float that triggers a light or alarm when the reservoir backs up and reach a certain rank.

Friend may have designed methane monitor, would worry more give or take a few methane than sewer backup. As very explosive beside correct air mixture. If your home is over septic would surely have a methane monitor. It is possible a CO2 monitor would work but am not sure, you would probably enjoy to investigate that...
