Boosting RF signal on a garage door Opener? I just lately bought a new craftsman 1/2 hp 315MHZ garage door...
I just lately bought a new craftsman 1/2 hp 315MHZ garage door opening and after about a week the paw helds and the keyless entry pad come across to have a half-hearted signal. Some times they work some times they don't. I extended the antenna wire to the outside of my garage door and still no luck. The garage door that I relplaced started doing matching thing that is to say why I replaced it. It was a Stanley made surrounded by 1982 and I figured that the heir board just fried. I hold checked everything that is within the manual and explicitly not much. I have not added any clean electronics inside or outside of my house so I don't think the interference is coming from my belongings.
I hold contacted Sears and after 5 days I got a nickname from a tech to set up an app. and he said all he be going to try was extending the antenna, so I told him I would try this and bring back back next to him.
Thanks for any help!
Answers: Instead of extending the antenna next to a really long piece of wire, try angling it within different directions - vertical, horizontal (and try pointing it at right angles to the door, parallel to the door, etc).
Also, at 315 MHz, a full wave antenna would be 37 inches long, so be sure that your extended rope is that long, or close to an even multiple of that length (74", 148").
When using the opener transmitters, try orient them differently as in the description for the recieving antenna. Often wireless devices don't work capably because the antennas are not oriented parallel to one another. Keep the addressee antenna away from other metals as well, as that can affect reception (sometimes on the way it, sometimes not).
change the battery in the controls.
