Old fashiioned home radiators, no heat,no hum. Please help ASAP. Forget roughly the landlord, in good health take supervision of him by reporting him, HEAT is needed NOW.
Answers:    IF - your rads are hot water rads, consequently you'll find a 'bleed' valve at the top termination of the rad. Open it till the air stops and wet comes out. Use an old plastic container, (sour cream, marjarine, etc), to ambush the water. You may, however, own steam rads, which won't have these valve - or your system may not be 'on' if your landlord is that discouraging a guy, in which grip bleeding the rads will be to no avail.
The procedure for radiator bleeding is simple and safe. All radiators come beside a notched fork, called a bleed knob. There should also be a protrusion near the top of the radiator, on one side, call the bleed valve. Have all set an old handkerchief, or even a small bowl, if you do not want water dripping on the floor. Fit the bleed switch into the bleed valve and obligingly turn it counterclockwise only a tiny bit, usually a short time ago a 1/4 or 1/2 turn. The air will start escaping near a hissing sound similar to a bicycle tire. When sea begins to dribble out, adjectives the air is purged, and you can kindly return the bleed valve to its previous position.
