We live in Iowa and our stucco home looks awful! When we moved surrounded by the home was fine, but in a minute large pieces are falling stale. The other day we accidentally kicked a bubble and it hit the corner of our home, and another huge chunk fell off. There are several hulking cracks as well. All the corners of the home are missing huge chunks. Once the pieces tip out off nearby is some styrofoam underneath.
The Iowa winders don't help beside this problem either.
How do you patch the missing chunks, it it expensive, and will it preserve?
Does this have to do beside a structural problem, or just the crappy weather our state get?
I think river is getting trapped and freezing and making the pieces fall rotten :(
Answers: Sounds as though your home has ("Sto") or ("Dryvit") stucco system on it. This is a product applied over a 1" styrofoam bottom, a base coat of troweled on cement over fiberglass mesh, and a top coat.
The Sto and Dryvit systems hold a certification program, however in that are lots of installers who aren't certified.
Sounds as though you have a non-professional installation where on earth the proper installation methods were not adhere to.
Temperatures must be steady above 40 degrees for 48 hours and nearby is strick procedures for flashings around windows,doors,etc.
Call your local lumber courtyard and get name of contractors who do this type work. I'm sure you will find that some steps were not followed contained by the installation of your stucco. They might even be able to convey you which product it is, and they can also show you sample color to try and meeting what is now on your home.
hi.i.m no builder but it sounds close to you have a poor stucco profession.and a water problem.what you inevitability to do is contact a good building inspector and enjoy him/her advise you on the best path to go.ring up your insurance co they or the better business bureau (app.Iowa bbb.org/roster)can help you find the right empire to help you.correct luck.
