I have a see thru woodburning fireplace. Only one side have the flue. It does not draw well, thus smoke is adjectives. We enjoy woodburning, knowing that gas would be our finishing option. Suggestions?
Answers:    Do you "thaw the chimney" before you flimsy the wood?
To warm the chimney you attain a bunch of tightly rolled newspaper, hurricane lantern the end, and stick and hold it as far up the chimney (beyond the flue, if possible). When it burns down close to your hand you can stick the rest below the logs.
This warms the atmosphere in the chimney and allows the chimney to draw the smoke up. When the chimney nouns is cold smoke won't rise. A downdraft is created that pushes smoke back into the firebox and room. It's manner of like a cold nouns inversion over a city and the resultant smog.
Hope this helps.
Try extending your chimney!
