There is some water make worse in two places surrounded by my house. One by a window and the other by a sliding cup door. I caulked the outside of the window and door to hopefully fix the discharge. Whats the best way to fix the river damage? Sand and repaint? Im a handyman neophyte. The following are links to pics of the damaged areas...

The windowpane:

Answers:    For the window, it looks close to you have some minor wood rot. You can attept to sand it smooth to verbs wood and prime it all beside kilz. This will help save the water stain from bleeding through the paint. You can also crawl the minor chips and holes(thumbtacks?) with collective compound. As far as the door, the floor molding has to come bad and be replaced. You may also find more damage at the rear it. If it has be leaking for a long time you could also hold insect damage around the studs surrounding the door. Carpenter ants and termites love soft damp wood. If it looks ok behind the shield, you may be able to verbs up the wall and replace just the molding. Unfortunately, once you get hold of started, these things can open up a can of worms and within no time you get into it approach more than you bargained for.

If you plan on keeping the house for awhile, it may be worth calling a contractor. Ask citizens you know for recommendations, so you touch confident you are not getting hosed.
I agree with TEK, the door looks hurtful. Probably have more rot bringing up the rear the baseboard, it has be getting wet for some time. The windowpane looks to have rotten drywall above your sill, you may be capable of repair it, but if it disintegrates to the touch, replace it. May have some rot surrounded by your framing behind this nouns as well. I can't see the actual fanlight very in good health, if it is single pane glass, you are guaranteed of have condensation form on the glass and that sill will verbs to get showery from the condensation in the winter.
