Baxi Bermuda 551 pilot problem? old but totally reliable boiler, serviced annually and no problems ever -...
old but totally reliable boiler, serviced annually and no problems ever - until final week after the annual service.Suddenly realised the heating have gone off - and after checking everthing else discovered pilot flimsy had gone out - Restarted it as per instructions - started at first attempt. However heat does not come on automatically in morning presently - because pilot goes out. No problem lighting pilot manually - but hit and miss as to how long stays alight - sometimes for the intact timed session, other times for hour or so only.
This is the lone problem we have ever have - and this only awfully recently - howver we are pressurised to changeover boiler each time gas board does annual service - does this stingy we now hold to - or are there alternatives, please?
Answers: British Gas don't do an anual service, they one and only do an annual inspection, BIG difference, get a fitting old fashioned contrive to take it apart, they will thieve a bit longer than the 30 minutes bg engineers are allowed to do the job. It sounds approaching the problem may be the thermostat, perhaps not put it stern properly, or broken the lead.
Are you covered for repairs. Why not return with them out to look at it. Might need exotic thermocouple or just loose nut after servicing making poor electrical contact. Also if incorporates Atmospheric Sensing Device (depends on age) tube might simply need cleaning
