Basement leak..? My basement leak around the edges. On the other side it dirt....
My basement leak around the edges. On the other side it dirt. I called a 'vault guy' but they want to build those trenches and put a drainage system around the foundation.
I want to know if there is something cheaper that can be done.
I hold no idea where on earth the water comes from other consequently the rain. It does not show up when it is NOT raining.
I thought nearly a paint sealer, like the black stuff I see them put on unsullied houses to make them dampen proof.
Would it work on an older house. ?
In regards to mold, move about to this link:

Mold is a concern but don't over-react to it.
Digging out around the foundation and lay gravel and pipe may be a bit pre-mature. See if the water is coming within other ways first such as openings within the siding. If the flashing around the bottom of the house has oipened surrounded by some way, river may be entering there.
When you say aloud it is at the edges, does that mean the corners. If so does it row up with your gutter down spouts? If that's the casing, you may be able to run to home depot and get tubes that attach to the call a halt of the down spouts and run the water further into the courtyard. Make sure the gutters are clean too close to the previous answer says. If the dampen is backing up surrounded by them, it may be overflowing the gutters and finding a way down the side of the house and into the vault.

first of adjectives you need to find the source of the hose. Its possible that your gutters and/or downspouts are filled near debris such as leaves or even the coating sour the shingles from the roof tend to get surrounded by the gutter and cause clogging. It won't do you any apt to paint with a hose sealer if you haven't corrected the problem from outside. I suggest you go out and look at the grade of the dirt at the house also. In order for the precipitation to run away from the house it has to be grade away from the structure. If it is, and the gutters aren't clogged, then you might a short time ago need to attain the "basement" guys to dig the dirt away from the house at the foundation, apply a rubbery type asphalt that will seal the wall from the outside. I would suggest that as you contiplate what you will be doing, find a de-humidifier in that underground store and run that until your basement drys out. You don't want sliminess down there as you will start to own mold growing down there and some molds are toxic. If you already enjoy mold growing, you will need to hire a professional to verbs it up or if you do it yourself, you will need to use a solution of bleach and dampen to kill the mold. When you are surrounded by the basement, try to remove shoes up to that time walking thru the rest of the house to avoid spreading any mold spores elsewhere.
Good luck.
Answers: When I started dating my wife, she would other get marine in the vault after a hard rainfall. I looked into it, and figured out that she hadn't cleaned the gutters or the downspouts since she'd moved within 4 years before that.
Cleaned them out and haven't have a problem since. Free is about as cheap as it get. Have someone you know take a look at your gutters and downspouts. If they're packed out with leaves and driftwood, you can clean them and verbs.
If you sealed the crypt walls, the water will purely find another way contained by. Treat the problem, not just the symptoms.
for the water to come into the vault around the edge of floor is have to go beneath the foundation footing first building pressure under your floor, if you own floor drains in your subterranean vault you can remove the perforated cover of the drain and later drill a 1/4 inch hole in the bowl of the drain into the gravel or teem under the subterranean vault the water will next flow up the hole and into the sewer runout of the drain--in some cases there is no trap within the floor drain you may have to remove the plug for the wet to escape to the sewer--still check your downspouts and guttering, my problem was and underground spring and the marine would run for days until the spring returned to normal pressure
