Asbestos surrounded by middle heat systems? I have have a new aficionado fitted into my central heat...
I have have a new aficionado fitted into my central heat system, would there be asbestos within a central heat system and when was asbestos prevented in important heating systems. It looks approaching a modern centrla heating system
In the interest of brevity, shall we call internal heating systems, CHS, surrounded by the future?
Call your fire department and ask them who to contact to interview for asbestos, in your CHS. After the try-out is complete and the results are in, they will advocate you on how to proceed.
Scary stuff...I don't know when it became immoral (I believe one form was debarred in the 80s and another within 1990), but I found asbestos tape contained by my current rental. It is in the form of a video used like duct video, and it is in the duct governing to all living spaces surrounded by this house!
Here's likely locations and forms:
The Health and Safety Executive say that the most common uses for asbestos are:
* Sprayed asbestos and asbestos loose covering - generally used as fire breaks contained by ceiling voids;
* Moulded or preformed sprayed coatings and lagging - commonly used in thermal insulation of pipes and boilers;
* Sprayed asbestos mixed near hydrated asbestos cement - generally used as fire protection within ducts, firebreaks, panels, partition, soffit boards, ceiling panels and around structural steel work;
* Insulating boards used for fire protection, thermal insulation, wall partition and ducts;
* Asbestos cement products which can be compressed into flat or corrugated sheets; corrugated sheets are largely used as roofing and wall cladding; other asbestos cement products include gutters, rainwater pipes, soil stacks and cold water cisterns;
* Some reinforced plastics, mastics and sealants;
* Millboard, daily and paper products used for the insulation of electrical equipment.
* Certain textured coatings, showy plasters and paints;
* Asbestos ropes, gaskets and cloth;
* Flues;
Pretty comprehensive use of what used to be considered a miracle substance!
If I were calculation a new air/ventilation to my house, I would emphatically run a venting hose inside existing ducts--I would never assume that adjectives is ok.
Answers: If your home is elder than around 1980, I'd have an inspector come and check for asbestos insulation. If the asbestos is trailing the walls, it will not affect you. Directly inhaling from being around it could affect you, however, it customarily only give the big disease, Mesothelioma, to people who spent abundant man hours hanging it contained by homes, or who had asbestos insulation exposed within their homes for long periods of time.
