Ok , my friend was ripping out 30 year out-of-date carpet surrounded by a 80 year old house and he found that underneath the carpet is nil but asbestos . He wants to know what he should do as far as who to name , and he wants to know whats going to arise when he does call . resembling what are they going to do to his house . He seems to suggest that the house is going to be tented and the whole neighborhood is going to feel something bad have happened . Also he is worried nearly the cost cause he is almost broke and be going to just put within new tile himself . Please distribute me real answers to these question . Thanks .
Since he know about it, he is lawfully obligated to reveal this to the next owner when he sell the house. He must not disturb the tiles. He can cover them with a vapor hedge and then plywood flooring or vapor hedge and then hearth rug.
The right thing would be to professionally abate the materials and later get the house certified asbestos free.
Watch out you most promising have front paint on the walls and moulding.
Since it's fixed asbestos, it shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure you wear a dust shroud and not create more dust when you remove the old tiles. Bag adjectives the tiles and take it to a home fill.
As you read the requirements contained by the website below keep within mind the word "suggest, should, may and advised" so it is not mandatory unless it says "you must, you inevitability, or under no circumstances" later you must and need for your own protection.
The finishing area is different states require different requirements but that should not be a problem. Good luck.
Answers: I know that where I am from you cannot remove asbestos by yourself rightfully. You can however cover it with something else. Trying to remove it (I'm assuming they are asbestos tiles) may exact some dust and is harmful if inhaled. If the surface is height try some sub flooring then tile or something else. I also cant envision that just covering it beside carpet is forceful. Good luck my basement is covered within that stuff we just covered it near sticky linoleum tiles. (cheap fix)
Asbestos if harmful when you disturb it. He should be alright in recent times putting the tile back on but are you sure it is asbestos or is it sheet-rock they look similar
