I have a house beside a ice problem rime starts in the gutters afterwards goes 3 foot up the roof worried it is going to come within the house, already has surrounded by 1 room. Im thinking of ripping the gutters off the house did not enjoy this problem before they be put on this past summer. My roof is with the sole purpose a couple years old and have ice guard on it , any suggestions what to do ? live within michigan snow and ice season freshly starting
thanks
Answers: Your problem kinda go along with my interview I posted earlier. The source to various ice problems along the gutter jump to heat loss to the the roof. Without proper insulation and nouns flow in the attic/crawl space, snow melt on the roof and once it hits a colder space (eaves with or minus gutters), it refreezes and forms ice, and usually developes into icicles.
You articulate that you didn't have this problem earlier the new gutters be put on. Did you also have latest facia and eave boards put on? It's possible that whatever nouns flow you had earlier, (air entering the lower parts of the roof and allowed to exit higher, through other vent in the roof or at the ridge line) may no longer exist.
If you do own eave vents, check to engender sure they are open. If they are overt, make sure that nouns is flowing into the attic space. If you don't have insulation within that space, that may be your biggest problem. If you do have the space insulated, and the vent are all surrounded by place, the insulation may have creeped down olden the wall headers and roof joists, blocking the heavens flow. There are simple styrofoam panels that can be placed between the roof joist, between the roof deck and the insulation, that will allow air to move through.
Resist pulling sour the gutters, as this would likely expose even more of the facia and eave boards and bestow the water an even quicker entry to your home.
My father-in-law, whose home does not hold very polite air circulation within the roof, purchased and installed heating elements that defrost away any ice build-up along the lower nouns of the roof. These are not always allowed by local building code, as relatives have forgotten to turn them sour once the ice have melted, resulting contained by more roof damage and even fire.
Be enormously careful if you attempt to "chop" the rime away, as damage to your roofing bits and pieces and the underlying sheathing could take place, creating an even bigger problem..
largely one of the main reason for ice build up is roof pitch to shallow; or not plenty, or improperly installed insulation. how ever they do create a heating item system to eliminate rime build up as well .
