The chimney in my house goues through the kitchen and is covered up near some type of plaster, then wallpapered. I'm prepping to paint, so when i pulled bad the wallpaper, some of the plaster has unsubstantiated spots and/or holes. Can anyone tell me how to repair this?

mix it up with cold.. hose till like cake batter, use a drywall cut 2 fill the hole afterwards skim it flat.use a foam sanding block to sand smoth 80 grit.if you put a small space heating system on it you can sand it in 2-4 hours.or freshly wait till the subsequent day
i do this stuff 4 a living this is the cheap passageway.
You will have to chip away adjectives the loose plaster then re plaster again, this will probably embezzle several coats as you won't have any of the frail lath board for the plaster to stick to since it was a hole for a chimney if the plaster is freshly coming off and the holes are small you should know how to mud over the plaster then sand to smooth..try to do away with as many insipid spots as you can.
