I open the dishwasher, and there are ants. It seem they are hiding in the little drain area. Sometimes they are outside the dishwasher, but close to it. How could they possibly gain in there? Is in attendance a link from the outside to the drain pipe?? Help! 10 pts for good answer!
Answers: I see this commonly. The reasons they are at the dishwasher are as follows:
water
temperature
harborage
easy access to crumbs
How they can get surrounded by there: They can be traveling from outside, through a gap surrounded by the outside of your house, into a wall, follow the pipes, and pop out there. Or, you could have a nest located inside your house.
You didn't ask how to get rid of them. =)
this remindas me of a problem i had beside ants getting in my fish tank , they are attracted to the marine for a drink , you need to pull the dishwasher out of its spot and verbs the floor and around the enclosure with bleach and hose down then spray a half can of raide beneath there push the maching back surrounded by its place , then clean the floor near bleach and water , spray some more raid , next go around under the cabinet and across the door sills and near the base of the wall beside some raid ... air the room out for a light of day or two , this is what i did and its kept the ants away The drain should run from under the dishwasher to under the sink. Take a look .Take past its sell-by date the kick plate on the front of the Dishwasher and use bug spray
