Our well pump and roast pump were the first things we notice to go. Some lights flickered and the boil pump died. We later notice the water out and presently have notice the oven does not work or any other things running on 220. We have a breaker box next to a main breaker at the top. HOw do we locate the problem?
If the 220v power (or "service" as we call it) go out to your house then you won't hold any power at all.

None. Zip. Nada.

If you are comfortable with a multimeter you can soundly check the incoming power inside your electrical panel. If you do not have this gift then ask someone who does.

If you own lights in your home (or if lone a portion of your lights work) then you may enjoy lost a leg coming from the transformer. Older transformers blowing fuses or shorting is not uncommon. Also check for birds nests and comatose squirrels near your weather guide (where your power lines actually connect to your home.)

Have your power checked as I described and be prepared to telephone the power company.

Have a look at the breaker - it may have tripped rotten. If so, you should be able to reset it.

If that doesn't seem to be to be the problem it might be an idea to see if your neighbour have lost their power too? Perhaps there is a problem next to the supply?
Answers:    Only the 240 volt is out? Both sides of the 120 volt are working? Call the power company to check your service. Don't bother fooling next to this yourself. The last telephone call I had resembling this was the overhead feeder wires to the house have rubbed through and shorted. Usually those are the power company's responsibility.
if only the 220 go out then you hold lost a leg on the circuit..restet your breakers.Ther should be a door on your circuit panel box in it contains several breakers. If one breaker is slightly past its sell-by date from the rest it has tripped. Flip it to the sour then subsidise to on. If it trips again. then you hold a short on the circuit. it is very possible that you own lost a leg to your service.i.e. from the pole to the service panel. That's the power company concern
