Answers:    Is it Battery Operated, or does it connect to your House Wiring ? If it's to your House, it sounds similar to you have a desperate switch.Try this; get a small portable Battery operate Radio , switch it to the AM Band, and tune to a blank spot on the Dial, and place it near your Switch, and see if you hear a Popping Sound. To assessment the Radio, place a TV Remote Control near it, and press any Button on it.You should hear a Popping pandemonium.Tune the Dial until you do.Then just move the Radio around your House to try to find any nonstandard sound. The problem might be within your Fuse Breaker Panel. If that's the case, you'll inevitability an Electrician.
I agree with Acolcres, it sounds unsafe. If the switch is past its sell-by date there should be no power running to work the lights. Maybe you enjoy an intermittent short. It's a problem for a qualified electrician.
